Al's Morning Meeting,
a daily column written by Poynter faculty member (and former television
news director) Al Tompkins, is an excellent resource for story ideas.
The column covers general topics, linking to web resources and offering
tips on how to navigate the issue. We've searched the archives and
gathered those topics which, with additional reporting, you could
localize for your school.
Some of these columns are
time-sensitive, but you'll still find the thinking and the links
useful. And remember to make the writing your own. Don't be tempted to
take another journalist's prose, no matter how good it is. Do your own
writing and reporting.
