What would you do with more time?

Excerpt:

What would we all do with an extra hour in our day if we had one? If time is money, that extra hour could be as precious as gold. An informal survey of folks in the area Friday brought all kinds of answers, but most would catch up on rest and spend more time with their families.

Butch Ward is a Distinguished Fellow at The Poynter Institute, a St. Petersburg, Fla.-based school for journalists. Ward conducts a seminar called "Setting Priorities -- Because There's Never Enough Time."

"I think what we need to do first is admit that we're never going to get everything done, and if we're not going to get everything done, a good way to start each day is by asking yourself, 'What do I really want to accomplish today?' " he said.

Ward offers some suggestions for managing time more effectively. One is making lists and deciding what is the most important thing you want to accomplish, then scheduling that activity.

"You have to prioritize," Ward said. "I'd be willing to bet almost every kid would be happy with a plate of spaghetti if you don't get to the supermarket because you were reading to your child."
