SMITH: Do you watch the evening news?
CRONKITE: Oh, sure. Of course.
SMITH: You do? I’m guessing you watch Bob Schieffer.
CRONKITE: Well, sometimes.
SMITH: Sometimes.
[Laughter]
CRONKITE: No. I’m there every night.
SMITH: It’s okay, no one will see this. It’s fine. Be honest.
CRONKITE: I watch them all. I can’t watch all three. ... But I watch CBS, and then NBC and the … what do you call your operation again?
SMITH: PBS.
CRONKITE: That’s it.
SMITH: Jim Lehrer. Right. Yeah.
CRONKITE: I will not miss Lehrer. If I miss the others, I can suffer it, but I’ve got to see Lehrer.
