St. Petersburg Times
The Poynter-owned St. Pete Times has published Tampa Bay Times, a weekly youth-aimed tabloid, since September 2004. On Friday, the Tampa Tribune complained in court that the name is so similar to the Tampa Times -- a mark owned by the Tribune -- that "Tampa residents are certain to be confused." A St. Pete Times veep says: "We've looked at the lawsuit and find it has absolutely no merit and we intend to vigorously defend our lawful right to use that name."
