Sunday's Express-News almost didn't include a Star magazine, and "that would have been a lump of coal in the Christmas stockings of readers who enjoy the Hollywood fluff, but -- perhaps -- a breath of pure oxygen to those who rightly view the tabloid as superficial and tacky, writes Bob Richter. The paper's journalists hate the Star's content, but 47% of the respondents in a 2005 survey said the Star was a "main reason" they read the Sunday paper. || More ombud/editor columns:
