Some Minneapolis Star Tribune staffers are convinced that
Par Ridder is still publisher of their paper because his father, Tony, is a backer of Strib owner Avista Capital Partners. The younger Ridder tells
David Carr that's not true. Carr writes: "Avista's purchase of the Star Tribune was the first time that a private equity group had bought a newspaper of its size, and observers wondered about what kind of operators a pure financial player would be, given the need for high margins and some kind of lucrative exit. So far, not so good."
