* "I think it is fair for critics who said that I don't see the forest for the trees, too much on details. I think that is true. I told Bill Keller that was my approach and I believe it was important."
* "Critics have come to think I was soft and a management shill. But if you look at my work, that is not true."
* About his relationship with Keller: "There was tension, but you had to expect that going in. I like him because he didn't hide things and play games. He was not always happy with me and I think I understood it."
