St. Paul Pioneer Press editor Thom Fladung says he came to that realization about five years ago. "It's not the content that I do, and the two contents should not cross. It's like Ghostbusters; never cross the streams. But advertising is content that's valued by readers, too. To take this high and mighty stance is kind of silly." So ads on space traditionally reserved for straight news isn't a big deal? "Only if you're self-obsessed like the Washington Post," jokes Fladung, referring to its Saturday story about sports front ads.
