Paul Holmes believes reporters shouldn't cover Iraq unless they have experience in a previous conflict, "because I don’t think it’s fair to them, I don’t think it’s fair to their colleagues, and I don’t think it’s particularly good for the story." WSJ's Farnaz Fassihi says: "I can't imagine going to Iraq for the first time now .... Truly you do not know the country. You would be writing blindly, with no tangible sense of the place or the people."
