Theodore G. Venetoulis, who is leading a Baltimore group in efforts to buy the Sun, says a Tribune rep called Thursday to confirm the company had received the group's letter of interest. "There is an indication there is a chance that local people might have an opportunity to negotiate for the local property," he says. "I was encouraged by that." But Venmetoulis adds that Tribune didn't say if the Sun is one of the papers it would divest.
