The type of rage displayed by Anderson Cooper and Shepard Smith in their Katrina reports "can easily become phony," says Alex Jones of Harvard University's Shorenstein Center. "For every Katrina, you might have a dozen hurricanes that don't match the tragedy, but the conventions of emotional TV may have to be ramped up to create the same viewer response."
