What Can You Do with a Microformat?
Here's a new item for your online-media toolbox: the microformat. This nifty way to use XML helps make content easier to find, mix, mash, and distribute in surprisingly sophisticated ways. I think this approach to organizing and delivering content could have broad implications for news and media.

Like what? Well, earlier I mentioned the recent launch of BlogBuy, a new free online classifieds service that works very similarly to Edgeio (also mentioned here).

On Feb. 28, Silicon Beat clarified: "BlogBuy supports hLlisting, a proposed microformat that standardizes the way classified ads appear on the Web so that they can be more easily discovered and indexed by search engines and crawlers."

To get you started, here's a good introduction to microformats.
