Freedom Communications hopes its interactive division will lend a big boost to the company's bottom line this year.
The newspaper chain Freedom Communications hopes to increase its online revenue from the current four percent (a low figure by today's newspaper industry standards) to about 15 percent during the next few years.

Michael Mathieu, the new president of Freedom Interactive, told MediaPost that the company would relaunch all 225 of its sites by mid 2007 with new features -- including some weblogs, video-sharing, and interactive event calendars.

The company is planning a national sales center for online classifieds -- it recently announced a deal with job site Monster.com for recruitment services on its newspaper and TV sites. They're also building a national sales force to sell display ads on the Freedom network of sites.
