News Sites Top Latin Google Zeitgeist

Clarin
Clarin.com
Clarin.com topped Google's Argentine Zeigeist recently.
Since June, Google has begun to add some Latin American countries to its Zeitgeist listings. As the search engine explains, that word means "the general intellectual, moral, and cultural climate of an era." Google represents this via the most-searched words on its service.

From the news site perspective, in the August 2006 listing of Google's 15 top-searched terms by country, three news sites are listed for Argentina: Clarín, Olé, and Infobae. For Mexico, two were listed: El Universal and La Jornada). In Chile there four were listed: Lun, La Cuarta, Emol, and Icarito.

This preoccupation with finding news stands in stark contrast to Zeitgeist results for the same period for many other countries, including Canada, China, and India.
