Coming Up: Jill Carroll Online Q&A

Just before noon Eastern today, the Christian Science Monitor site began accepting questions that will be answered by reporter Jill Carroll, who spent 82 days in captivity in Iraq. See: Ask Jill.

CSMonitor.com's managing editor Karla Vallance told Tidbits the questions have "been rolling in at the rate of more than 10 questions per hour, most of them quite thoughtful. Virtually all of the questions are from people in the U.S. and Canada, but that may be mostly because of the way the time zones fall. By tomorrow morning, I will have a sense of the international scope of the response, and a clearer sense of the numbers."

This online Q&A will be packaged with an upcoming feature series on Carroll's captivity and release. The publication date has not yet been finalized, and a final decision has not yet been made regarding whether comments to these Q&A items will be allowed.

Personally, I'm hoping that CSMonitor.com will allow public comments to these Q&A items. I think this could be an interesting springboard for public discussion.
